The students of the second grade: our students in the second grade continue to meet in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays of this week, on Wednesdays as a day of distance learning. A reminder that this Friday is not a school day. Background: This website will regularly inform the Bellevue community of our engagement with our professional educators represented by the Bellevue Education Association. Regular updates are provided when we face together the challenges we all face when serving our students personally and remotely. We have worked hard to get our buildings ready for this return. Airflow, ventilation, personal protective equipment (PPE) and contact tracking procedures are present. In addition, we have worked hard to give our educators access to vaccines. We are on behalf of our students to ensure that the BSD community successfully completes the 2020/21 school year. We sincerely thank all of our students, staff, parents and the community for their support and understanding. We are pleased to focus now on putting our energy into the rest of the school year and seeing more students in our schools, and continuing to focus on our students who have chosen to stay away. Students return to school buildings on April 8 or 9 for the first half-day of in-person classes. This day will be a modified schedule, where each student will see all his personal classes, periods 1-7, during this half day.
BEA and BSD met today for 9 hours of productive discussions and will return to the table at 9:30 a.m. in the hope of reaching an agreement. Interviews with the BEA: The Bellevue School District is committed to continuing to work with our teachers` union Bellevue Education Association (BEA) to bring back more students for personal learning while exceeding protocols to support the safety of staff and students. The district met with union leaders on Friday, January 23 and will continue to work throughout the weekend. More details on our agreement, approved by bee members: the primary school plans for hybrid students will continue as currently planned in the two-and-a-half-hour schedules until the rest of the school year. Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will continue their transitions defined by each elementary school. All primary classes must be in person by Monday, April 5, 2021. As agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in November with the BEA, all secondary school teachers will personally work for two days in school buildings to prepare for learning.
